Research Brief (PDF, 2 pages)
This report describes the evaluation of the Council on Aging Learning Advantages program; a training program for informal caregivers. Nurse trainers conducted individualized training tailored to fit the circumstances of caregivers and care recipients. Results showed that training resulted in decreased caregiver burden, improved caregiver self-esteem and competence, and objective knowledge of caregiving issues, among other improvements. Program materials could be easily adapted for use in other Area Agencies on Aging.
