FAQ

What are some of the more significant trends related to Ohio's total and aging populations?

Between the years 1990 and 2000 Ohio experienced a 4.7% increase in the total resident population. During the same 10-year span Ohio saw an increase of 7.2% among the population aged 65 and over, while perhaps more significantly there was an increase of 28.1% among Ohio's population aged 85+. The table bellow shows the total population in 1990 and 2000 and the population changes that took place between those years in a sample of Ohio counties for the following age categories: total resident population, the 65+ and, the 85+ populations.
