Student Professional Development Fund

Established by faculty and staff who donate honoraria they receive for speeches and technical assistance. This fund supports students to attend and give presentations at professional meetings and conferences. this fund also provides a small amount of support for costs associated with thesis and dissertation research.

P.K. Whelpton Memorial Lecture Fund

This lecture series was established by an endowment from the Whelpton family to Miami University in memory of P.K. Whelpton and the impact of his work on the field of demography. Each year, we honor former Scripps Director P.K. Whelpton by inviting to campus a speaker of national and/or international eminence to address issues of demography and aging.

Cottrell Distinguished Alumni Lecture Fund

Endowed by the Cottrell family, this fund serve to honor the contributions of W. Fred "Doc" Cottrell to the Scripps Gerontology Center and the field of aging. To reinforce Doc's legacy of intellectual leadership and service to others, the W. Fred Cottrell Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series brings prominent gerontology alums to campus to present lectures to Miami University faculty, staff and students, as well as to the community at large.
