Hallie Baker
|
Hallie completed her doctoral studies and graduated in August 2009. Later that month, she began work as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Muskingum University. Her responsibilities include teaching courses in a new “traditional” nursing undergraduate program and an adult learners RN to BSN program.
Hallie’s research focuses on aging with a disability, trends in long-term care, and research ethics. Her dissertation research titled, “A Life Course Disability Model for Understanding Aging with a Chronic Condition,” integrated a life course perspective with models of disability to better conceptualize aging with a disability or chronic condition across the life span. The resulting life course model of disability was tested using polio survivors to predict later life health outcomes.
While at Miami, Hallie served on the Academic Program Review Committee and on the Institutional Review Board (human subjects protection) for which she completed almost 200 reviews. Service on this committee allowed her to develop both a passion for research ethics and an interest in future research on bias, specifically ageism, among IRB committee members. Hallie also maintains her status as a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio.
